- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 ½ teaspoons cotton candy flavoring
- Pink food coloring
- Blue food coloring
- Powdered sugar or flour for dusting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Mix flour, baking powder, and salt in a bowl and set aside.
- Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy.
- Add egg and cotton candy flavoring to the butter mixture and mix well.
- Combine dry and wet ingredients until the dough is crumbly.
- Divide dough in half; knead pink food coloring into one half and blue into the other.
- Roll out each colored dough to ¼ inch thickness.
- Layer the rolled dough on top of each other and roll tightly into a log.
- Slice the log into ¼ inch cookies and place on prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 7-9 minutes until edges are lightly golden and cool on a rack.
Notes
Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
Avoid overbaking for a chewy center.
Adjust flavoring amount to taste.
