- 5 cups granulated sugar, divided
- 2 ½ cups applesauce, divided
- 6 ounces strawberry jello (2 packages, 3 ounces each)
- 6 ounces lime jello (2 packages, 3 ounces each)
- 4 envelopes unflavored gelatin
Instructions
- Mix 2 cups granulated sugar, 1 ⅓ cups applesauce, 2 packages strawberry jello, and 2 envelopes unflavored gelatin in a saucepan.
- Heat the mixture, stirring constantly until it boils, then boil for 1 minute.
- Pour the mixture into a greased pan and repeat the process for the lime gumdrop base.
- Chill both mixtures in the refrigerator for at least 3 hours until set.
- Cut the gumdrops into squares or fun shapes, and transfer onto a tray.
- Dry the gumdrops at room temperature for at least 8 hours.
- Roll each gumdrop in sugar to coat and serve.
Notes
Ensure mixtures are not allowed to cool too long before pouring to maintain texture.
Use cooking spray generously for easy removal from pans.
