- 1 cup granulated sugar

- ¼ teaspoon baking powder
- ¼ teaspoon baking soda
- 1 large egg
- 1.5 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 6 oz. good quality semisweet chocolate chips
- ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drain the maraschino cherries, reserving the juice.
- Whisk together flour and cocoa powder in a small bowl.
- Cream butter and sugar together in a large mixing bowl.
- Add egg and vanilla, mixing until smooth.
- Gradually add dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Scoop dough into 1-inch balls and place on baking sheet.
- Make indentations in centers of cookie balls.
- Insert a cherry into each indentation.
- Melt chocolate chips and condensed milk in a saucepan, stirring in cherry juice.
- Spoon chocolate mixture over each cherry.
- Bake for about 10 minutes and cool on a wire rack.
Notes
Use good quality chocolate chips for the best flavor.
Allow cookies to cool fully for optimal texture.
Adjust cherry juice in topping for desired consistency.
