  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 cup maraschino cherries, chopped
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 23 tablespoons heavy cream or milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 12 drops cherry extract or 1 tablespoon maraschino cherry juice

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare a loaf pan.
  • In a large bowl, whisk together sugar, almond extract, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, milk, cherry juice, eggs, and sour cream.
  • In another bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt.
  • Fold the dry mixture into the wet mixture until just combined.
  • Gently fold in chopped cherries.
  • Transfer batter to the prepared loaf pan and spread evenly.
  • Bake for 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  • While cooling, mix powdered sugar, heavy cream, almond extract, and cherry juice for the glaze.
  • Once cool, drizzle the glaze over the bread and enjoy.
