Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound chicken breast
- 4 hoagie rolls
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter + more for buttering the bread
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder + more for bread
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1/2 yellow onion, sliced (white onion works too)
- 1/2 cup pickled jalapeños, roughly chopped (optional; banana peppers can substitute)
- 3/8 cup Frank's RedHot sauce
- 4 slices Provolone cheese
- Ranch or blue cheese dressing
Instructions
- Chill the chicken breast in the freezer for 30-45 minutes for easier slicing.
- Slice the chicken thinly, season with garlic powder and salt, and set aside.
- Melt butter in a skillet, sauté onions and jalapeños until soft, then set aside.
- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees, butter hoagie roll insides, and sprinkle with garlic powder.
- Cook the seasoned chicken in the same skillet until browned and fully cooked.
- Add butter and Frank's RedHot sauce to coat the chicken, then place Provolone cheese on top until melted.
- Fill the hoagie rolls with chicken mixture and top with sautéed onion and jalapeños.
- Serve with ranch or blue cheese dressing for dipping.
Notes
Let the chicken cool slightly before serving to avoid burns.
Experiment with different cheese types for added variety.
Consider using cauliflower rolls or lettuce wraps for a lighter option.
