- 3/4 loaf French bread, cut into 1" cubes (enough to fill a 9 x 13" pan)
- 12 large eggs
- 2 cups milk
- 1/3 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 16 ounces cream cheese, cut into 1/2" pieces
- 1½ cups blueberries, fresh or frozen
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 6 tablespoons butter, cold and cubed
- 1/3 cup light brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease a 9"x13" baking pan.
- Fill the pan with cubed French bread.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, and vanilla until combined.
- Pour the custard mixture over the bread, pressing down to soak.
- Distribute cream cheese and blueberries evenly.
- In a bowl, mix flour, butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon to create streusel.
- Sprinkle streusel over the mixture, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 4-48 hours.
- Remove from the fridge, bring to room temperature and bake for about 1 hour until golden brown.
Notes
Using stale bread enhances the texture.
Fresh berries can be swapped for a variety of fruits.
