- Pinch of salt
- 2/3 cup (74 grams) black cocoa powder
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and prepare cake pans.
- Combine dry ingredients in a mixing bowl.
- Mix wet ingredients and stir until combined.
- Carefully add boiling water and mix.
- Divide batter into prepared pans and bake for 26-28 minutes.
- Allow cakes to cool, then prepare frosting.
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Gradually incorporate powdered sugar, add vanilla and salt.
- Mix in black cocoa powder until combined.
- Assemble and frost the cake, shaping it into a heart.
- Refrigerate to set the frosting and decorate as desired.

Cool the cakes completely before frosting to avoid melting.
