- 1 tablespoon olive oil or spray
- 8 hot dog buns
- 2½ cups shredded Mexican cheese blend, divided
- 8 hot dogs
- 2 cups chili (our favorite recipe!)
- ½ cup chopped yellow onion
- ½ cup chopped fresh cilantro
- Ketchup, to taste
- Mustard, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Toast the buns in a skillet with olive oil until golden brown.
- Place toasted buns face up on a baking sheet.
- Add onion, cilantro, ketchup, and mustard to each bun.
- Insert a hot dog into each bun.
- Top with chili and sprinkle remaining cheese.
- Cover with foil and bake for 30 minutes; broil for an extra crispy finish.
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
Notes
Toast buns well to hold the chili and cheese.
Use high-quality hot dogs for better flavor.
