- 12 oz bag of cranberries, rinsed
- 3/4 cup water
- 1/4 cup fresh orange juice (about 1/2 large orange)
- 3/4 cup packed light or dark brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon orange zest
- 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
Instructions
- Zest the orange and set it aside.
- Juice the orange to get about 1/4 cup of juice.
- Rinse the cranberries and set aside 1/2 cup.
- In a saucepan, combine remaining cranberries, water, orange juice, and brown sugar.
- Heat the mixture until it simmers, stirring occasionally.
- Reduce heat and simmer for about 15 minutes until cranberries burst.
- Remove from heat and stir in reserved cranberries, orange zest, and vanilla.
Notes
Ensure cranberries are fresh and undamaged for the best flavor.
Adjust the sugar quantity for desired sweetness.
This sauce can be made ahead and stored in the refrigerator.
